We are living in a generation where individualism matters a lot. In today’s age people are more individualistic and self centered. We are living in a generation where we can better understand how critical the oneness of the brothers in Christ.
The Church is situated here in this time of the age. So what should be the attitude of the Church? In the book of John chapter 17 Jesus prayed so that the disciples to be one (vs. 21 That they all may be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us; that the world may believe that You have sent Me.) What a prayer! Where is our stand on this matter of oneness today?
In this section we will see what God commanded to happen when the brothers assemble together in oneness.
Jehovah commanded a blessing, did you read it? A blessing! Some times when we don’t get along with brother we isolate ourselves and think we can succeed in life and feel we are ok. Brothers, in this situation I guarantee you that you are missing the blessing. This is a blessing that you can’t get it anywhere but only in the local church on the ground of unity.
One of the enemy goals is to take the word of God away from us. Let me put it this way, the president of the land commanded something, you don’t think it will happen? Oh yes it will definitely happen. Here on the verse the God breathed word of God commanded a blessing in the assembly of the brothers on the ground of unity.
Here is what God commanded:
Psalm133:1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is / for brothers to dwell in unity!
Psalm133:2 It is like the fine oil upon the head / That ran down upon the beard, /Upon Aaron’s beard, / that ran down upon the hem of his garments;
Psalm133:3 Like the dew of Hermon / That came down upon the mountains of Zion. / For there Jehovah commanded the blessing: / Life forever.
Aaron is a person and Zion is a place. So from here what we learn is that the Church has two aspects, a person and a place. As a person the Church is the body of Christ, and as a place the Church is the habitation of God, where he dwells in. Aaron is the high priest in this context. While Christ is our high priest, however here being our head and we his body represented when the anointment pours down from the head to all the way down to the body.
Eph. 4:3-6 Being diligent to keep the oneness of the Spirit in the uniting bond of peace: one Body and one Spirit, even as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
1) one Body,
2) one Spirit,
3) one hope,
4) one Lord,
5) one faith,
6) one baptism,
7) one God and Father
In today Christianity we lost the vision of the BODY, the oneness with the all inclusive processed triune God. We think that to be one with the brothers is an option. We assume we have freedom of leaving the brothers. And we give excuses for our action of isolation. In reality we are divisive. We proclaim that we are one, sing the song of oneness, some times even we pray about oneness. But God showed us clearly the genuine ground of ones, is to be one with him. The above verse in the book of Ephesians shows us what oneness mean. If we deviate from that, from the truth, brothers we are declaring division. In division there is NO ANNOINTING! In the result in the place of the anointing we will have emotion!
Do you think God is after individual? What is the ultimate goal of God? Our God is after the BODY, his goal is the mingled corporate person which ultimately is the Body of Christ!
Brothers based on this reality we have to stand on the ground of unity, we will be blessed. And march the march of the blessed ones.
